Future Destination Park

Planning for a magical space is underway! The Destination Playground, which will be located adjacent to the Grand Forks Children's Museum and managed by the Grand Forks Park District, promises to be a world where fun and exploration are free for all. It is sure to be a cherished spot for local families, and a shining highlight for visitors to Grand Forks. Imagine a space that celebrates the land and sky, and features attractions for every season. We are hoping to include a welcoming pavilion, an outdoor fitness court, a meandering sculpture trail, and seasonal delights.
Designed with everyone in mind, the Destination Playground will feature innovative, multi-level play equipment that welcomes dreamers and explorers—near and far—of all ages and abilities. While still in the planning phases, the playground’s design aims to capture the essence of Grand Forks and North Dakota, reflecting the museum's lively hues and creative spirit. The Destination Playground won't be just a place to play—it'll be a canvas for imagination, a bridge between generations, and a place where the community can gather, grow, and explore for generations to come.

Operations & Sustainability
As the Grand Forks Children’s Museum nears its $35 million building campaign goal, our focus is beginning to expand from building the museum to bringing the full vision to life. That next chapter includes educational programming, long-term sustainability through endowment, and the future Destination Playground. The playground is not part of the current building campaign goal, but it remains an important piece of the larger family destination taking shape alongside the museum. Once completed, Destination Playground will be owned and operated by the Grand Forks Park District, whose staff will maintain the park land, playground structure, and amenities through the Park District’s existing general operating budget.
