This fall, get ready to ride the rails of imagination and innovation! From September 29 through October 8, Grand Forks Children's Museum invites families, educators, and curious minds of all ages to Full STEAM Ahead 2025, a dynamic celebration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) that brings our region’s agricultural, industrial, and creative spirit to life.
With nine immersive learning zones, this year’s event promises more interactive excitement than ever. These are some of the many exhibits that are under development:
Seed to Table: From Soil Health to Sustainable Harvests: Thanks to NDSU Extension Services, this vibrant zone takes root in real-world agriculture and food systems. Kids and families will explore how food grows, transforms, and sustains our communities and the importance healthy soil. Seed to Table is provides learning that’s hands-on and deeply rooted in North Dakota soil.
Brain Games & Problem-Solving Play: Boost critical thinking and teamwork with challenges designed to stretch young minds, because STEAM learning thrives on creative problem-solving.
Play Grocery Stores: Experience mini marketplaces that teach nutrition, budgeting, and the economics of agriculture, all through role-play and exploration. Let’s exercise our math brains to calculate cost per serving and the total ‘purchase’ price of our groceries at check-out.
Veterinarian Clinic Exhibit: Step into the world of animal science where kids take on the role of vets, learning empathy, biology, and medical care practices that help support our farming communities and our beloved pets.
Maker’s Space & Dark Room Wonder Lab: From glowing creations to structural builds using everyday household items, this zone is a tribute to innovation and artistry, where tinkering and creative design leads to breakthroughs and where imagination has no limits.
North Dakota Train Exhibit: See how railroads keep our state moving! With massive, interactive setups, this exhibit shows how train transportation fuels North Dakota’s agriculture and industry, sparking curiosity about logistics, circuitry, engineering, and sustainability.

This 10-day event is more than just a showcase…it’s a community-powered launchpad for lifelong learning, regional pride, and bold exploration. From toddlers stacking blocks to students solving challenging brain puzzles, Full STEAM Ahead welcomes all learners and explorers. Join us as we celebrate the ingenuity, culture, and connectedness that make Grand Forks thrive.
