Full STEAM Ahead: Where Wonder Meets Community — Volunteers Make It Possible

Every fall, something extraordinary happens at the Grand Forks Curling Club. Tape tunnels twist across the room, sensory stations buzz with energy, dark rooms erupt with iridescent light, and every corner pulses with the joy of discovery. Families gather to explore science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and mathematics, where each station is a spark for curiosity and connection. It’s called Full STEAM Ahead, and it’s more than an event…it’s a glimpse into the future of the Grand Forks Children’s Museum.

This annual pop-up museum transforms over 6,000 square feet into a hands-on wonderland for learners of all ages. Over the past three years, Full STEAM Ahead has welcomed an average of 8,000 attendees, giving proof that curiosity, creativity, and community are alive and thriving in Grand Forks. From school-day field trips to weekend family adventures, Full STEAM Ahead sparks curiosity, connection, and community pride.

Behind every glowing tunnel and hands-on station is a team of volunteers who bring Full STEAM Ahead to life. They welcome families with warmth, spark curiosity in young learners, and help create an environment where every visitor feels seen and celebrated. Whether you're guiding a STEAM activity, engaging with guests, or simply sharing a smile, your presence leaves a lasting impression.

It’s not just about giving, it’s about growing. Volunteers gain hands-on experience, build new friendships, and become part of a movement that’s shaping the future of education and play in our Grand Forks region.
