Being part of a volunteer committee is not just about fulfilling a role; it’s about actively shaping a better world and, in this case, shaping a better children’s museum. The saying ‘many hands make light work’ represents a timeless truth. When people come together, their combined efforts can achieve remarkable outcomes. Whether it’s a shared goal, a community project, or a collaborative endeavor, the synergy of many hands and minds working together lightens the burden, introduces new ideas and encourages progress. Each contribution, no matter how big or small, adds to the collective strength, and collective success. Many hands/many minds brings new ideas, new perspectives, and the opportunity to broaden one’s thinking.

The Grand Forks Children’s Museum started with a group of dedicated individuals who had a dream. Once that dream started to become reality, it was clear that many more hands would be needed and welcomed. As of today, there are eight committees, representing volunteers from the entire Grand Forks region. These are our committees:
Building
Community Engagement
Event Execution
Be the IDEA (Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility)
Programming and Partner Development
Exhibits
Finance
Fundraising
Grants
Landscaping
Marketing

A lot of expertise in various areas is greatly needed and appreciated. We are lucky to have a large (and growing) group of volunteers, ready to add their expertise to specific areas of need for the children’s museum.
When individuals with specialized knowledge and skills join a committee, they enrich the collective effort. That expertise becomes a guiding light, illuminating paths, solving complex challenges, and ensuring informed decision-making. Bringing expertise to a volunteer committee is like adding a vibrant color to a canvas.
Novel ideas emerge from expertise. Whether it’s a fresh perspective on community outreach, a data-driven approach to fundraising, or an innovative leap in programming, volunteer expertise encourages creativity. Each contribution enhances the committee’s effectiveness. By sharing their wisdom, volunteers elevate the entire team, fostering innovation, efficiency, and creating a better outcome.

We are fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers who are willing to share their unique expertise to help shape the Grand Forks Children’s Museum. Virtually every volunteer holds a full-time job, so their time is valuable, and their commitment is great. Thank you for making a better future for the family and children of Grand Forks.
PS. More volunteers are always needed and welcomed. Contact us with your area of expertise or to simply volunteer (we will find a proper place for you).
