The Countdown Begins…

The countdown is officially on. Tomorrow we’ll gather together on the future site of the Grand Forks Children’s Museum to break ground on a dream that has been nearly four decades in the making. What once lived in conversations, sketches, and early plans is about to become real, and our community will be there to witness the first shovel of dirt turned.

On Wednesday at 4 p.m., city leaders, key donors, board members, and community champions will stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder to mark this milestone. Representatives from the City of Grand Forks, longtime supporters who believed in this project from the earliest days, and families who have cheered us on through every step will all be part of the moment. Their presence is a reminder that this museum isn’t the work of any one person or organization, it’s the result of a community choosing to invest in its future.

The stars of the day will be the kids. One hundred kid‑sized shovels will be waiting for our youngest builders, ready for little hands to help turn the soil and launch the next chapter of this story. There is something powerful about watching children digging away and breaking ground. It serves as a clear reminder of who this museum is for and why it matters.

As we count down to Wednesday, the excitement is impossible to ignore. This groundbreaking isn’t just a ceremony; it’s a promise. A promise that Grand Forks is building something extraordinary for its children… today’s, tomorrow’s, and those who will grow up in Grand Forks long after ours have stepped into their own futures.
